About the artist

Halima Aziz is a Palestinian visual artist and designer based in Germany whose work explores cultural identity, memory and heritage through painting and digital illustration. She holds an academic degree in Design from Düsseldorf. Drawing inspiration from her Palestinian roots and bicultural experiences, Aziz combines contemporary artistic expression with traditional cultural elements, particularly Tatreez, the centuries-old art of Palestinian embroidery.

Her artworks are characterized by expressive compositions, delicate details and a distinctive interplay of color and symbolism. Blending personal memories with cultural narratives, she creates visual worlds that explore identity, belonging, and the preservation of heritage. Her work has been exhibited internationally, including at the Palestine Museum US, P21 Gallery in London, and the Museum of the Palestinian People in Washington, D.C., alongside exhibitions in Germany and Denmark.

Halima gained international recognition as the artist behind the official artwork for World Day of Prayer 2024. Her creative collaborations also include Amnesty International UK, for whom she created an artwork for International Women’s Day 2025.

Alongside her artistic practice, she leads Tatreez workshops that encourage cultural exchange, collective remembrance, and the preservation of traditional craftsmanship. Through her multidisciplinary practice, Aziz creates a dialogue between cultural heritage, personal memory, and contemporary visual expression.
